
The Minnesota Lynx hosted "Golf Night," June 24, in Minneapolis, an event that coincided with the U.S. Women's Open in nearby Edina, Minn., and featured Minnesota PGA Professionals offering free golf lessons to fans attending the game.
The Lynx, Washington Mystics and Seattle Storm tipped off The PGA of America's new partnership with the WNBA to offer "Game Day Experiences" throughout the season.
The Minnesota PGA offered free instruction courtside in the "Party Zone," while the Lynx hosted the New York Liberty. Play Golf America public service announcements played before a crowd of some 5,000 at the Target Center, while more than 100 lessons were given by four Minnesota PGA Professionals over a three-hour period to women and junior players.
Minnesota PGA Executive Director Jon Tollete distributed PlayGolfAmerica.com mouse pads, golf shirts, and fliers, promoting the Section's Junior Tour. Attendees at the lesson area also registered for a pair of weekly passes for the 91st PGA Championship, to be conducted at Hazeltine National Golf Club, Aug. 10-16, 2009, in Chaska, Minn.
The "Game Day Experience" program will continue through July 27 at WNBA sites nationwide.
