2019 PGA Teaching & Coaching Summit presented by OMEGA

 

The Association's largest educational event - the PGA Teaching & Coaching Summit presented by OMEGA kicks off the PGA Merchandise Show next week in Orlando, Florida. The Summit takes place Jan. 20-21 at the Orange County Convention Center; Demo Day is Jan. 22 and the PGA Merchandise Show will fill out the calendar, Jan. 23-25.

Some of the biggest names in sports will deliver meaningful, engaging, progressive, multi-dimensional presentations and content that focuses on the value of coaching, coach skill development, and future of coaching. 

New this year are "breakout sessions" that provide a hands on learning experience to help you grow your business. Spend each morning in the Chapin Theatre at the Orange County Convention Center where you will hear from keynote speakers and main stage presenters. Each afternoon, you will have the opportunity to interact with the best minds in golf and sport for shared learning and an exchange of ideas during break-out sessions.

The Summit opens each morning in the Chapin Theatre. During the two morning sessions, you will gather insight from keynote speakers and main stage presenters. ​Each afternoon, breakout sessions will be held. Topics will be covered each day beginning at 1:30 p.m. and you are free to move through any topic that peaks your interest.

Breakout Room 1 - Teacher Effectiveness (414B)

Calling all teachers and coaches! This room hosts a lineup of star-studded speakers across a wide range of areas including effective coaching and strategies for increasing your reach. Our Player Performance sessions offer coaches and players alike, a cross section of essential skills on how to play the game. Beyond mechanical competencies, our expert presenters will unpack the necessary talents to be successful. The range of topics will be appropriate for juniors all the way through elite professionals. So, regardless of which category you fall in - tournament player coach, club member instructor, compete yourself, or simply play social golf - you will collect and fill a wide range of proficiencies.

Our Teaching with Technology sessions offer a different approach for coaches through the development of new technologies that can change the way we see the game. Our experienced presenters will speak on how and when to use technology while teaching, how to optimize the technology for high performance, and how coaches still remain the critical piece of the puzzle even with the use of technology. Regardless of your experience with teaching with technology, this session will provide you with skills that you can use to improve and expand your arsenal of instruction methods.

The On-Course Coaching sessions host an all-star lineup of speakers that will discuss a wide range of topics aimed to maximize the effectiveness of on-course lessons. The presentations will cover course management programs, DECADE scoring system, maximizing tournament week preparations and 10 essential discussion for every on-course lesson. No matter where you instruct, you will be able to find a speaker that can help you in building a better game and business on the course.

The Fitness, Wellness and Flexibility breakout room will highlight some of the latest trends in the Health and Wellness industry. You will learn some of the latest training methods used on Tour for increasing flexibility, speed and power. There will also be a focus on the business aspect of adding health and wellness to your facility and the revenue opportunities that exist in one of the fastest growing segments in the golf industry.

Often coaches don't consider themselves business people, but they are. We are in the business of helping others enjoy the game through our coaching. You can be a competent teacher and not nearly as successful as you could be by not operating to your possible business potential. We have put together a room of highly successful instructors who have managed their respective businesses in a way to maximize their impact in their respective communities. There are speakers who have been successful at every type of facility with every demographic of player. No matter where you coach you will be able to find a speaker that can help to increase your reach and  grow your business.
