Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and the Kappa Foundation

The PGA of America is committed to diversity and inclusion and one of our key areas of focus is ‘community engagement’. In our collaboration with PGA REACH, the Association’s foundation, we strive to positively impact the lives of individuals from diverse background. Introducing golf at a young age has tremendous educational, physical and social benefits. There are many community organizations that are growing the game of golf with youth in multi-cultural communities and the Kappa Foundation is one of those groups. The Kappa Foundation is the non-profit arm of the national Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

The Kappa Foundation held their 2nd Annual Building the Dream Klassic at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. This gathering brought more than 400 golf and tennis lovers to South Florida. The Building the Dream Klassic was established to raise college scholarships for young men.  The event was a big success with guests representing globally-branded corporations, business owners, individual professionals, celebrities, and the young men from the Kappa League program and their parents. The PGA of America was proud to sponsor the golf clinics for both the young men and the adults that were taught by PGA Professional Anthony Stepney and PGA Associate John Montgomery during the four day extravaganza.

Some of the golf lovers in attendance that day included NBA legends Oscar Robertson and 10-time NBA Champion Sam Jones. Others in attendance were Emily Pitts, Principal of Inclusion & Diversity for Edward Jones, Glenda Newell Harris, National President of the Links, actor John Marshall Jones, the much touted golfer, Kevin Hall from The Ohio State University who is deaf, and the dynamic duo golf sisters, Nisha and Seema Sedakar.

The Klassic is a prime example of an event that enables the Foundation to assist in community service and academic programs that have helped over 750 undergraduate and alumni chapters worldwide. Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity has been instrumental in increasing the pool of highly educated and skilled workers and leaders for private and public sectors, as well as cultivating a new group of innovative entrepreneurs. Golf is a great way to teach individuals how they can enhance their careers and discover new career avenues.
